Why are Cole and Judge getting MRIs??

All the buzz around Yankees camp right now is MRI, MRI, and MRI! Should you be worried about Judge and Cole???? Let's dive into it.

Gerrit Cole underwent an MRI scan on Monday this week because his pitching elbow was "not recovering" as well as it should after pitching sessions. Cole has only had one spring training appearance, where he pitched two innings. There is no news about the MRI results, but I can speak on behalf of every Yankee fan when I say I am praying the result is not severe and there is no need for surgery. Sadly, there are many reports that Cole will not be the starter on opening day due to the pause in his spring training development.

To add to that deeply depressing news, Aaron Judge underwent an MRI on Tuesday due to abdominal pain. Thankfully, everything was reported to be normal, and no current injury would prevent him from starting on opening day. Judge is the Captain of the Yankees, and nothing would be more depressing than to see him and Cole on the injured list to start the season.

I urge everyone to stay calm about Cole. The MRI was done on Monday, and if the results were severe and there was a clear issue, they would have already released a statement. While I do agree the Yankees probably won't have Cole pitching on opening day, I am confident that 2024 is "The Year of The Yankees," so I am praying that Cole will be healthy and hopefully pitching for the Yankees in mid-April.
