Who is turning heads at Yankees Spring Training???
We are a few games into spring training, and we've seen some really good talent out of the Yankees so far! Let's talk about the highlights after only a handful of games.
I can't hold the excitement for much longer, Juan Soto looks fantastic already! I'm writing this blog after Juan Soto has had only four at-bats this spring, and he already has one home run and five RBIs. His swing looks incredible! Bryce Harper is the only other Major Leaguer with a similar swing, and he, just like Soto, is one of the top hitters in the MLB. With the short right-field fence in Yankee Stadium, I can't imagine how many games I will be jumping for joy like a kid in a candy store because Soto hit a bomb over the wall.
The other significant early surprise of Spring Training is the 18-year-old Yankees first-round draft pick in 2023, George Lombard Jr. The young and talented shortstop has had only three at-bats this spring, yet he already collected his first Major League home run on Monday, in addition to two RBIs. Lombard Jr was a very highly touted high-schooler out of Miami, FL, and even though all of New York is rooting for Volpe to be the new franchise shortstop, it never hurts to have a young talent in the pipeline for a few years down the line.
There is still a lot of spring training left to go, and I'm sure we will see some other young and impressive prospects playing some good baseball. This weekend, make sure you check out our social media pages and our blog to check out our first Late Night Recap Show, where we will review all the top players and storylines coming out of the Yankees' spring training!
