Why is Trent Grisham on the Yankees???? It’s puzzling!

You hear the Name Trent Grisham and think, who the hell is this? Aaron Boone recently said in an interview with Talkin Yanks that he sees a possibility of Grisham playing some good baseball this season from the outfield. Naturally, I wanted to research Grishman more as I just knew he had just come over in the Juan Soto trade.

As I gloss over his stats, I naturally think he was just an extra piece in the trade, so the Yankees weren't sending over five players to the Padres and receiving just Soto. Trent Grisham has played in the MLB for two partial and three full-year seasons, primarily with the Padres. Not to be mean, but there should be no way this guy should be wearing pinstripes in the Bronx and ABSOLUTELY no fricken way the Yankees should be paying him $5.5 million for 2024!!!! There is absolutely no indication he is a good Major League baseball player, as all he has done is put up numbers that come from a guy you call up from Triple-A and get sent back down immediately, and everyone online and on ESPN calls him a BUST!

In the three full-year seasons with the Padres, Grisham batted one year with a BA of .242 and two seasons with a BA below .200! Grisham also consistently hit low HRs and RBIs. I'll give him a small amount of credit because he gets a lot of walks, especially in 2023, when he walked 75 times. But the Yankees do not need a guy who is almost guaranteed to be an easy out in their lineup.

There are about five prospects the Yankees can call up tomorrow that can put up way better stats than that. Yet, sadly, on the depth chart, he might be the backup center fielder. I can only hope he is on a short leash, and if he doesn't prove fast he can hit or get on base consistently, he will be sent down to the minors and off the 26-man roster. That position belongs to Jason Dominguez and even Oswaldo Cabrera if Dominguez is injured. I would rather pay Dominguez $15.5 million yearly to be a backup because I know he is developing to be a great MLB player than pay Grisham anywhere close to $5.5 million.

Brian Cashman continues to puzzle me, and I'm guessing all of New York........
