The Yankees Win 4-3 over the A’s to tie the series 1-1. Read the Highlights!
On Tuesday, the Yankees bounced back, winning 4-3 against the Oakland A's after being shut-out on Monday!
On Tuesday afternoon, Marcus Stroman was the starting pitcher for the Yankees. He performed well, pitching 5.1 innings and striking out a career-high nine batters. However, he also let up seven hits and three earned runs. This was his fifth start of the season, and with today's win, his record is now 2-1 with an ERA of 2.93. I believe that Brian Cashman made a wise decision in signing Marcus Stroman, as he has proven to be worth the contract. Today's win was a team effort, and credit goes to Marinaccio, Ferguson, Santana, and Holmes for pitching the last 3.2 innings and not allowing a single hit while the Yankees only had a one-run lead!
The Yankees had a strong start in the first inning, scoring all four of their runs. Giancarlo Stanton hit a massive two-run RBI double, bringing Aaron Judge and Juan Soto home, and Anthony Rizzo followed up with a two-run home run to left field, scoring himself and Stanton. The team only managed to get five hits and one walk on Tuesday, making it crucial for them to take advantage of baserunners in the first inning, which thankfully they did. Judge had a hit tonight, but Gleyber Torres and Austin Wells both struggled and went hitless. Torres has a batting average of .186, and Austin Wells has a poor batting average of .086. Torres is on a one-year contract, and Austin Wells is a rookie, so both need to improve quickly to secure their position in the Bronx beyond this year.
The Yankees have two more games against the A's in the Bronx on Wednesday and Thursday. The Yankees must win to reclaim the top spot in the AL East.
