The Win Streak Continues as the Yanks Beat the D-Backs 5-2!

The Yankees flew to Phoenix, Arizona, to take on the Diamondbacks and absolutely crushed them in the first game of the series 5 - 2!

Monday Night was Luis Gil's first appearance as the fill-in starter while Cole is out with an injury, and Gil looked incredible! The 25-year-old rookie pitched 4.2 innings, allowed only one earned run, one hit, three walks, and collected six strikeouts! Gil couldn't have done much better in his major league debut as a Yankees starter. The anticipation for his next start is already building, and I'm sure you're as excited as I am! After Luis Gil, the Yankees' bullpen stepped up and did their job, as they collectively only allowed three hits and one run the rest of the game.

The Yankees' offense on Monday was a hit parade, and one player who stood out was Anthony Volpe. He is keeping up his hot start to the season, going 4 for 4 with two doubles, two singles, and an RBI in the 3rd! Volpe was not the only Yankee who stepped up tonight as Torres, Wells, and Cabrera all collected an RBI in the game. Another run was gifted to the Yankees as the Diamondbacks made two errors in a single play, allowing an extra run when Wells hit his RBI. A small highlight from Monday was Judge got his third hit of the season, and I'm hoping this launches him into a hitting groove! The Yankees are at their best when The Captain is in his prime at the plate.

The Yankees have two more games in Arizona before a well-deserved rest day on Thursday. They will then head back to the Bronx to face the Blue Jays. As they continue their winning streak, they are building a comfortable lead at the top of the AL East Division.
