The Yankees crush the Guardians 8-2 in the second game of the doubleheader on Saturday!

The New York Yankees gave the former Marlins pitcher Cody Poteet his first start on Saturday night. Poteet had missed the 2023 season due to Tommy John surgery, but he made a strong comeback in his first appearance as a Yankee, pitching exceptionally well. He allowed only one earned run and six hits, with four strikeouts in six innings. The only run he let up was a homer hit by former Yankee Estevan Florial on a hanging curveball. Overall, Cody Poteet performed admirably and delivered an impressive performance in his first game as a Yankee.

The Yankee lineup was ablaze on Saturday night, collectively recording 9 hits and 8 walks. Anthony Volpe and Anthony Rizzo continued their impressive form, both securing two hits and an RBI. The standout moment of the Yankees' performance was courtesy of Juan Soto, who went 1 for 3 with two walks and smashed a three-run home run in the fourth inning. Oswaldo Cabrera also contributed significantly, hitting an RBI double in the 5th inning, adding to his impressive offensive production. Austin Wells chipped in with an RBI sacrifice fly, and Giancarlo Stanton walked with the bases loaded to secure another RBI. Overall, the Yankee's offensive performance Saturday night was impressive, as every batter in the lineup collected at least one hit or an RBI!

The Yankees are now 12-3 on the season, and they have one game left in Cleveland on Sunday afternoon, where the Yankees will be looking to sweep the Guardians in the three-game series.
