The New York Yankees gave the former Marlins pitcher Cody Poteet his first start on Saturday night. Poteet had missed the 2023 season due to Tommy John surgery, but he made a strong comeback in his first appearance as a Yankee, pitching exceptionally well. He allowed only one earned run and six hits, with four strikeouts in six innings. The only run he let up was a homer hit by former Yankee Estevan Florial on a hanging curveball. Overall, Cody Poteet performed admirably and delivered an impressive performance in his first game as a Yankee.

The Yankee lineup was ablaze on Saturday night, collectively recording 9 hits and 8 walks. Anthony Volpe and Anthony Rizzo continued their impressive form, both securing two hits and an RBI.
